Dr. Benjamin J. Visger

Osteopathic Physician (DO)

About Dr. Visger

Dr. Visger was born and raised on the Muskegon River and calls the lakeshore his home. He earned his baccalaureate of science in psychology in 2007 and doctorate of medicine from Michigan State University in 2011. Following that, he completed his specialty residency in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine at Mercy Health in 2014. He served as core faculty in that training program for two years, during which time he worked alongside Dr. Paul Dyball and trained Drs. Kyle McDonald and Madeline Ginn. The most important part of his medical work began with opening this private practice on Labor Day 2016. Dr. Visger also hosts medical education workshops and teaches at medical conferences across the state to improve the way doctors diagnose and treat pain. Hundreds of physicians and thousands of patients have already benefited from this mission! In the few remaining waking hours after all such endeavors have come to rest, Dr. Visger explores music, storytelling, and the countless possibilities of a better world.

Treatment with Dr. Visger

Dr. Visger has developed a precise, deep-working technique to relieve some of the most difficult areas of pain. It feels like a focused pressure that “hurts good” but is much more advanced and effective than massage. It works by breaking down deep restrictions and reconnecting injured tissue fibers to restart healing. He also employs a wide range of lighter techniques when deep tissue restriction is not the main problem or when the patient is too sensitive for deep pressure.

The best way to learn about our techniques is to experience them. If you are anxious or have had bad experiences with manual treatments in the past, you are in great hands! We will modify our techniques to suit you and will never treat you without consent.

Dr. Paul S. Dyball

Osteopathic Physician (DO)

About Dr. Dyball

Dr. Dyball hails from eastern Michigan but has since made the western lakeshore his home. He earned his baccalaureate of science in biology from the University of Michigan Flint in 2003 and doctorate of medicine from the University of New England in 2007. He returned to Michigan for his specialty residency training in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine at Mercy Health, graduating in 2011. He then served as core faculty and program director for Mercy’s neuromusculoskeletal medicine residency training program for seven years, including training Drs. Benjamin Visger, Kyle McDonald, and Madeline Ginn. He joined our team in 2018 to focus entirely on patient care. Dr. Dyball loves the Wolverines and spending as much time in the Michigan summer sun as possible!

Treatment with Dr. Dyball

Dr. Dyball is highly-skilled in a variety of techniques aimed at improving motion and relieving painful tension without force. He can move the body into specific positions to release targeted joints, muscles, and nerves safely and effectively. His style is influenced by the late Dr. Richard Huff who trained him personally and mentored him for years after.

Dr. Ginn's Schedule

Dr. Madeline J. Ginn

Osteopathic Physician (DO)

About Dr. Ginn
Dr. Ginn was born in Trenton but has deep roots in Holland with family close by and a love for the people and community. She graduated from Alma College with a baccalaureate in biology in 2013 and earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2017. She completed her specialty residency in osteopathic neuromuscular medicine at Trinity Health in 2020, during which time she was trained by Drs. Paul Dyball and Benjamin Visger and earned two research awards. She worked with Michigan State University in Grand Rapids before settling back with our team along the lakeshore. Dr. Ginn is a swimmer-turned-triathlete and keeps active despite a busy family and practice. She loves animals, gardening, cooking, and wrangling toddlers.
Treatment with Dr. Ginn

Dr. Ginn is a board-certified specialist in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine. Patients primarily come to her for relief of pain. She uses careful, precise, manual techniques to relieve pain in muscles, joints, and nerves. Her techniques are much safer and more effective than chiropractic. She can work alongside or instead of physical therapy in helping patients improve pain and function. She also treats a variety of conditions in infants including torticollis (wry neck), feeding difficulty (including sucking, swallowing, and latching), plagiocephaly (misshapen skull), and colic. More, she has a special talent for helping pregnant and nursing mothers with their unique pains and problems. She focuses on injury prevention and recovery, teaching patients what they need to know to improve quickly and stay better.

Dr. McDonald's Schedule

Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Friday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Dr. Kyle G. McDonald

Osteopathic Physician (DO)

About Dr. McDonald
Dr. McDonald is a native of Cadillac and, with teachers and coaches for parents, a lover of practically all sports. He played basketball at Albion for four years, graduating in 2011, and worked as a personal trainer and assistant coach with his father before medical school. He graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2016 and completed specialty residency in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine in 2019. This included working closely with Drs. Richard Huff, Paul Dyball, Benjamin Visger, and Madeline Ginn. Though Grand Rapids is now his home, he still loves the Cadillac area and sees it as the beginning of northern Michigan and getting away from it all.
Treatment with Dr. McDonald

Dr. McDonald is an expert in biomechanical diagnosis and treatment. He can diagnose pain and dysfunction by anatomical landmarks, motion testing, and a detailed examination of soft tissue like muscle and tendon. His employs a customized blend of techniques to match each patient’s needs which can range from gentle and relaxing approaches to deeper working and direct releases of pain and tension. He has earned great success with helping people suffering from chronic issues such as back pain even when treatment with other providers has failed. His background with sports makes him a great fit for athletes of all ages.

The best way to learn about our techniques is to experience them. If you are anxious or have had bad experiences with manual treatments in the past, you are in great hands! We will modify our techniques to suit you and will never treat you without consent.

OUR MUSKEGON STAFF

Mallory

About Mallory
Mallory is our office manager—or mom, depending on the day! While based out of our Muskegon headquarters, she coordinates all of our offices, doctors, and staff. She is also a certified baker, a skill which may correlate directly with the stress of the position at times! She collects souvenir magnets and regional art when she travels. Mallory grew up around Muskegon and plans to stay here unless a big-time producer offers her a cooking show or an owl brings her a letter from Hogwarts.

Emily

About Emily
Emily is our billing specialist. If you have ever suffered the common misfortune of having insurance and needing to use it, then you can imagine how important Emily is! She helps resolve issues with payments, insurance policies, prior authorizations, and so on. Understandably, she may have a slight obsession with Post-It notes! While all of that might sound terribly fun, she still finds time to spend time with her son and watch him grow! Emily is a local Muskegon girl with friends and family close by.

Kate

About Kate
Kate is the primary referral specialist for all of our offices as well as part of the front desk team in Muskegon. If you are referred by your doctor, you will probably end up talking with her! Because of these things, she is one of the main faces of our office and connected with most of what happens here. This gives her a great opportunity to build positive relationships with our patients and team. She loves concerts and traveling, the latter meaning anything outside Ravenna. Perhaps one day she will even visit Stars Hollow! Along such journeys, Kate likes collecting mugs. Where she puts them all, no one knows!

Emma

About Emma
Emma is the front desk heroine of Muskegon, having to slide the window open and closed at least one hundred times a day. She loves seeing the change in patients before and after treatment. When she is not glass-sliding and phone-juggling, she enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family. She hails from Muskegon but would enjoy the occasional long weekend in Radiator Springs.

Gina

About Gina
Gina is Dr. Dyball’s scribe, meaning she documents his work so he can focus on patient care. She loves seeing firsthand how many people are helped by Dr. Dyball and osteopathic medicine in general. Like him, she loves spending as much time at the beach as she can. Her appreciation of sand goes way back to when she wanted to be an Egyptologist as a child! Since then, she has decided life is better around North Muskegon.
